He is well-known in the UK Jazz and Birmingham music and arts scenes. I was put on to his music while in hospital (long story), and have been enjoying his artistic and musical creations while in recovery.</p><p>Consciousness and abstract-mindedness are the main themes I get when listening to his music. I recommend starting with his 2006 release, A Life In A Day of B19. This record has a nice blend of Hip-Hop, Rap, and Jazz. For something more conscious-minded, check out The Black Peril/The New Emancipation or White Juju. His album Nonagram was a great listen for straight experimental abstract Free Jazz sounds. I've never really been into Boldy James like that, only listening to a few songs here and there and a few features he’s been on; but that Manager on McNicholas is honestly an underrated gem when talking about well-produced projects. The music on that album is amazing from the harmonies, textures, and sound design. James’ raps contrast yet complement the production, with my favourite of his bars being on Mommy Dearest, very personal and real - but man, when I tell you, &nbsp;that production is something special and in my opinion elevates the album; I highly recommend you give the instrumental version a listen.</p><p>Sterling Toles is a music and visual artist as well as educator from Detroit, Michigan. He started out rapping at a young age, around 1984; 10 years down the line he would join a group called The Foundation, where he would be officially recorded. By the late 90s, Toles grew tired of the sound of Hip-Hop, and with influence from acts such as Massive Attack and Bjork, he would begin producing in 1997.</p><p>Some of his other works — found on Bandcamp — are worth a listen. Resurgent Cineribus is a leftfield cinematic journey and a sonic account of his father's memories of the Detroit 1967 Uprising. Who Is Sterling Toles?

The main theme of this project was to combine different sounds into some musical form—quite like how in a scrapbook or collage, different elements are brought together to create the art. I wanted a big experimental/electronic feel to this project, yet also have elements of Hip Hop, R&amp;B, and Jazz in some places. The 8 track LP combines both of the artists’ styles seamlessly.<br></p><p>The project starts with the wonderfully named<strong> ‘Brangelina Fanfiction’</strong>. The intriguing title had me expecting a lively sound, but I was pleasantly surprised by the soothing and enticing melody instead. I instantly fell for the soft click-clacks of the drumline and the use of dreamy keyboard chords. My first listen of this song literally made me put a pause on responding to emails to go and bask in the evening sunlight streaming in from my bedroom window. Bliss.<br></p><p>Fiona’s hazy, almost hypnotic voice marries well with each rhythm presented on the project. There are moments in a few songs where the instrumental shines by itself, but Fiona’s vocals adds depth and develops the sentiment the song possesses which further allows the listener to be completely swept away. I felt this the most with <strong>‘Strong Ankles’</strong> and <strong>‘You Didn’t Touch My Neck’.</strong><br></p><p>My favourite track from this project changes from day to day, but I have a very deep appreciation for<strong> ‘Je Suis Avec Moi’</strong>. The song is very high energy and the delivery of the lyrics have an extra playful feel to them. It’s absolutely perfect for frantically dancing around your bedroom (which I often do). Miss Finewood Review - Forever Faking Memoirs - Fiona Fiasco & Melodiesinfonie

It has some of its origins in the carnival clubs of black and mestizo workers in Recife, as well as the European marching style music, which was popular at the time. &nbsp;The word Frevo originates from the Portuguese word ferver, which means boil, essentially describing the dance accompanied by Frevo music, that the style is like dancing on boiling water. The dance movements and acrobatics take their roots from Capoeira, another Brazilian dance and martial art created by enslaved Africans in the country. Frevo dance is also known as passo or step and its dancers are known as passistas, who usually wear colourful clothing. Passistas often dance with an umbrella, performing many movements with the umbrella alongside acrobatics.</p><p>There are three types of Frevo music: street (Frevo de Rua), Block (Frevo de Bloco), and song (Frevo Song). Street Frevo is an instrumental orchestral style, where the metal and woodwind families are at the center of the performance, this type of Frevo is mainly danced to. Block Frevo is another orchestral-influenced style, however, there is a bigger focus on string instruments and woodwinds. This style is also accompanied by a female choir, who sing about the enjoyment and nostalgia of carnival time. Frevo song has a similar instrument arrangement as Street Frevo, and is often sung on stages. In the 1950s frevo was introduced to the carnival of Salvador, Bahia, and included instruments such as electric guitars. His album Fly With The Wind has got me hooked, the big band strings and orchestration matched with his signature piano playing takes you to some distant land. &nbsp;All musical parts fit so well creating a nice musical landscape and bliss for my ears. &nbsp;</p><p>Alfred McCoy Tyner was an American Jazz Pianist born in 1938, in Philidelphia. His 2004 album MM Food, is one of my personal favourites. The above image was revealed as the artwork for the 20th-anniversary release, and I have to say it looks nice; kind of makes me want to buy the record on wax again.&nbsp;</p><p>What I enjoy about this record is the sampling chops, for example, Anita Baker's Sweet Love in Hoe Cakes or Sade's It's a Crime in Kon Karne. DOOM has a lot of memorable lines in this record, especially in Rapp Snitches Knishes; could of saved a whole lot of careers - I'm telling ya; If only they listened.
